The first year, we planted tomatoes, beans & peas straight into the wood chips and horse manure mix. Excellent results. After the harvest my husband bought two 4X8' X3/4" plywood and built a 8' X 8' X 4' box and emptied the previous wood chip boxes into the big box; presto, we had a working compost box. This year, we have six planting boxes and two large compost boxes.
